The importance of faith has been emphasised through various churches and seminars teaching as the foundation of productivity walk with God. The man called Enoh was translated because he pleased God through faith. Therefore it is paramount to understand what is really faith, the God kind of faith and foundation and how it work. This understanding will further enhance the operation of faith in your life.
In Act 6:7, Christianity was defined as the faith, and the scriptures said that the just shall live by faith. This implies that the quality of our walk as believer is faith defined. We understand from Heb 11, that the world was framed by the word of God and that the word of God communicate God's power (Rom 1:17) but the word of God is powerless without Faith.
For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. (Heb 4:2)
And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. (Luk 1:45)
Faith is the principal requirement for God to confirm His Word in your life. Until your faith comes alive in any scriptural truth – you never experience the blessedness of that truth.
Until you believe the report of God about your life, you will never see the God’s hand at work. It is not enough to access revelation from God’s Word, you must mix it with faith.
Revelation simply establishes the foundation for your faith because every bible based faith has it root in God’s Word.
Faith and Power of God's Word
Faith draw its strength from the word of God, it is based on the revelation of God because faith cometh by hearing of the word (Rom 1:17). Faith simply connect you to the power of God to confirm the word of God you have believed. In John 1:12, you are empowered to become what you believe.
Let me by the grace of God, paint a picture from the pages of scriptures that will help you appreciate the place of faith in accessing the power and blessedness of the Word.
In Mark 5:25: the Word narrated the account of the woman with issue of blood – in verse 27 and 29 of the same chapter, the woman touched Jesus and the bible recorded this
And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. (Mar 5:29)
But in verse 30 Jesus said
And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? (Mar 5:30)
The bible said that Jesus perceived that virtue which (power) has gone out of him. This means that when the woman touched the helm of Jesus garment, power was released from Jesus, the Living Word into the body of the woman and she was healed.
But it wasn’t the touch that connected her to the healing power of Jesus. In verse 30 when Jesus asked who touched my clothes, the disciples answered saying
And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? (Mar 5:31)
So everybody was touching Jesus, not just touching but thronging Him. The disciples were actually saying “Master what kind of question is this? Can’t you see everybody is thronging you?”
Then you may ask what made the touch of the woman unique? Jesus answered that question in verse 34
And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague. (Mar 5:34)
This means that it wasn’t the touch but the woman's faith that connected her to the flow of virtue that healed her.
God’s power is embedded in His Word but your access to it by faith. The Gospel is the power of God but only to those that believe (Rom 1:16)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek. (Rom 1:16)
And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. (Luk 1:45)
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (Joh 1:12)
At the instance of faith in God, you are empowered to become what you believe (John 1:12).
What is Faith?
Since faith is very crucial in accessing the blessing and power embedded in the Word. It is important to know what faith is and how it operates. I believe God that the Spirit of faith will be released upon you for a supernatural walk in the realm of faith.
Faith is the power to become what God’s Word say
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: (Joh 1:12)
Until you believe what God’s Word say about you, you never become what God’s Word has said about. No matter how great your vision is, your faith must match, if it must come to pass (Hab 2:2-4, Luk 1:45)
Faith is Walking in the Understanding of God’s Word
In John 12:35-36 says
Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while is the light with you. Walk while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. While ye have light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. (Joh 12:35-36)
Note in verse 35: Jesus instructed His disciples to walk in the light while you have light and in verse 36, He also said while you have light believe in light and according to Psa 119:18, understanding of God’s word is likened to as light.
This means that walking in the light (understanding of God’s Word) equals believe in the light
So faith means walking in the understanding of God’s word, when you believe God, you will walk and act in line with that word you have received of the Lord
Faith is a Word Provoked Action
Whatsoever you believe must reflect in your action. You can’t say you believe God’s Word of healing and still be acting sickly.
Faith without proof is fake, In James 2:24-26
Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also. (Jas 2:24-26)
So what you believe must show in your action, lest it is death faith – Faith is not saying you believe God’s Word, it is acting on the Word you believe in order to prove that you believe Him.
Faith is a Word Provoked Confession
One of the avenues of exercising faith is our words, whatever you believe must determine your word pattern. A man of faith speaks the Word
For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. (Mar 11:23)
For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. (Rom 10:10)
We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; (2Co 4:13)
What you believe must reflect in the word of your mouth.
Faith is the Process of Making the Word Flesh
Hear this every promise in the Word of God is just a promise, but once your faith comes alive on any of the promise, it graduates from a promise to a covenant. Every promise of scriptures has demand attached to it, once your part is played, God is 100% committed to fulfill His part. That why the bible has old and new testaments (covenants)
In Deu 28, God made a lot of promise of blessings but there is one requirement to access it – Obedience of faith. You receive His Word (the promise) believe it and obey the demand of that promise, then God is committed to confirming that promise in your life – because He is a covenant keeping God.
Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? (Isa 53:1)
Until you believe His report, you never see the evidence of that report in your life. So faith is the spiritual force we engage to make the promises of God flesh (real and evident) in our lives as Christians.
God promised to bless Abraham in Gen 12:1-3, but faith was the equipment that Abraham engaged to see the fulfillment of that promise (Rom 4:17 – 22, James 2:21-23)
Faith is Confidence in God and His Word
Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. (Heb 10:35)
Faith is confidence in God and what He has said in His Word. While writing this book, I was going through my old study notes and discover a writeup I made concerning George Muller. In my note, I wrote:
Faith is the assurance that the thing which God has said in His Word is true and that God will act according to what He has said in His Word
This confidence, assurance in God’s Word is the faith.
Faith is the door to divinity
Faith connect man (humanity) to the realms of God (divinity) thereby making the impossible possible
Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth. (Mar 9:23)
And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible. (Mar 10:27)
According to Mark 10:27, it says all things are possible with God and in Mark 9:23, it says that all things are possible to him that believeth. This means that when faith comes alive, humanity is connected to divinity for a change of story.
If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;
(Joh 10:35)
In John 10:35, it says that unto whom the word of God came to are gods and in Rom 10:17, the scriptures says faith cometh by hearing and hearing the word of God.
When God’s Word comes to you, faith comes alive in you (Rom 10:17) and you are god (John 10:35), it means that when you are operating in God’s Word by faith – you are operating as god.
In John 14:12, Jesus said that by faith we will command the same work as Him and much more. This means that faith enable us to operate in the class of Jesus.
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; (Mar 16:17)
Faith is a sign commander, Mark 16:17 made us to understand that signs and wonders answer to those that believe in Jesus – the living Word of God.
It is by faith that the elders obtained good reports (Heb 11:2). Men like Enoch and Elijah by faith escaped death, by faith, Moses dared Egypt singlehanded because he saw the Invisible by faith.
By faith, the faithful of old became part of the glorious city which God is the builder and maker.
And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
(Heb 11:32-34)
Women by faith stood their ground against death and prevailed (Heb 11:35)
Friend, faith is an inestimable weapon in the kingdom, it is the weapon any kingdom giants trade. I believe God that it is your turn for a change of story in Jesus Name.
I pray that God will turn you into a faith giant – a warrior that run with His Word and command exploit in Jesus Name Amen.
Faith is the key to making Christ real in your life (Rom 10: 6-8), only those who believe will experience the supernatural acts of God.
Although faith is the principal prerequisite in accessing the blessing and wonders in the Word of God, but it must be released before it can deliver the desired result.
According to Rom 10:10, understand that faith is of heart but it must released for it to deliver your blessing. (Rom 10:10, Mark 11:23, Mark 2:5).
Foundation Of Biblical Faith
Faith outside the Scope of God’s Word is Just Wishful thinking
It is important to know that there two kinds of faith in the world today – Natural belief and bible kind of faith. Each kinds have their roles to play but the superior is the bible faith which the focus of this book.
God’s kind of faith (as Kenneth E Hagin of Blessed Memory calls it) has it root in God and His Word, anyone that claim to believe anything else outside the Word of God is not operating the bible kind of faith or God Kind of Faith and as such should not expect God to confirm such belief
Bible faith is not based on your church doctrines or teaching outside the scope of the word of God.
So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Rom 10:17)
God kind of faith comes from word of God, so if your faith is not based on what God has said then you need to check it.
Yes, faith is confidence In God but you can’t just believe God from the blues, it must comes from His Word – what He has said to you via revelation or His Written Word.
Let examine the scriptures to understand the basis of our faith In God.
And blessed is SHE THAT BELIEVED: FOR THERE SHALL BE A PERFORMANCE OF THOSE THINGS WHICH WERE TOLD HER FROM THE LORD. (Luk 1:45)
So the basis of believing is what God has spoken, it is shameful that many Christian base their faith on something, doctrine that has no basis in the Word.
This usually leads to disappointment because God is committed to what He didn’t say.
Let’s look at the life of Abraham – whom the bible acclaims to be the father of faith, let us examine the basis of his great faith which God counted as righteousness unto him (Rom 4:3) and to whom God instructed that we look up to (Isa 51:2) and we are expected to also walk in the same steps of faith of our Father Abraham (Rom 4:12b)
(As it is written, I have made thee a father of many nations,) before him whom he believed, even God, who quickeneth the dead, and calleth those things which be not as though they were. Who against hope believed in hope, that he might become the father of many nations, ACCORDING TO THAT WHICH WAS SPOKEN, So shall thy seed be. (Rom 4:17-18)
So Abraham against all odd believed, the real question is this: what was the basis of his faith, the bible said “according to that which was spoken”
This was further validated in Rom 4:20-21
He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform. (Rom 4:20-21)
According to Roman 4:20-21: Abraham’s faith was based on the promises of God. He was convinced that God is committed to fulfilling His promise to him.
In the life of Paul the Apostle, the scriptures revalidated this singular truth
For there stood by me this night the angel of God, whose I am, and whom I serve, Saying, Fear not, Paul; thou must be brought before Caesar: and, lo, God hath given thee all them that sail with thee. Wherefore, sirs, be of good cheer: for I BELIEVE GOD, THAT IT SHALL BE EVEN AS IT WAS TOLD ME. (Act 27:23-25)
When Paul was faced with storm, he believed God based on the message of the Lord that the angel of God gave him at night.
Wisdom demands that the first step in the walk of faith is to gather scriptures that guarantee your desire. Do you desire healing? Then settle with the Word and locate what the Word has to say about healing, do you desire deliverance? Settle with the word for insight on deliverance.
The word said in Hosea 4:6 “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge” Until knowledge of the Word in a particular area comes to you, you never experience the rising of faith in your heart. Hear this: Faith begins where the Knowledge of God’s Word begins because faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the word of God (Rom 10:17)
If It Is Not The Word, Then It Is Not
In issue 13, I stressed on the importance of scriptural balance and the role of the Word, preachers and Holy Spirit – the Teacher of all teachers in accessing the revelation of God’s Word. One of the major reasons for that chapter is call the Church back to scriptural balance, because many Christians have gradually departed from the Word to some doctrines – even some church doctrines that have no basis in the Word. The worst part is that many Christians are not aware of this – because of the subtlety involved which is a work of the spirit of error.
But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ. (2Co 11:3)
For this reason, you must judge every teaching and doctrine, even this book to ensure that it is in line with the truth. It is my prayer that by reason of the explosion of the revelation of God’s Word programmed for the end-time Church, that men and women will return to the truth - undiluted Word of God.
Don’t misunderstand me, I am not against any church doctrine – yes there are different pastorates and each pastorate has its doctrine but such doctrine should line up with the Word of God.
Even this publication, don’t accept it because I said it, accept the teaching in this book because it is inline with Word of God – the principal work of preachers is not to proclaim the doctrine of men but the doctrine of God’s Word.
God don’t confirm anything outside the scope of His Word, faith simply trigger His faithfulness on that promise that you have believed.
And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. (Mar 16:20)
God also bearing them witness, both with signs and wonders, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? (Heb 2:4)
Hear this: no preacher can bless you outside the commandment of God, Servants of God can only bless on the basis of God’s Word (Num 23:20)
In conclusion: God only confirm His Word that you have received and believed, so if you are believing anything else, you are on your own and it is not God’s kind of faith because it has not root in God’s Word (Rom 10:17)
In the next release, I will be talking about the channels of faith and how to activate one;s faith for the miraclous.
