The Lord has sent a word against Jacob [the ten tribes], and it has lighted upon Israel [the ten tribes, the kingdom of Ephraim]. (Isa 9:8)
Throughout Scriptures, it has been proved that God’s principal weapon of salvation and deliverance is His Word. Whenever God wants to intervene in the affairs of men, He first sent His Word.
When God wanted to create the heaven and the earth, He spoke His Word (Heb 11:3). Also when He wanted to save man, He sent His Son (the Word made flesh) and whosoever believe in Him, shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16, Rom 1:17)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (Joh 1:1-3)
The scriptures said that the Word is God – this implies that all that God is, is accessible by His Word. The Word said in 1 Sam 3: 21 "And the LORD appeared again in Shiloh: for the LORD revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by the word of the LORD. God also reveal His Himself by His Word"
To understand the power of the sent Word, let’s take a journey into the scriptures
Moses
In Exodus 3, God called Moses and sent him to Pharaoh with a message of deliverance – “let my people go” Remember that Moses was a fugitive and a runaway, he ran for his life 40 years and God was sending Him back
When He went back according to the command of the Lord, the scripture said in Exo 7:1
And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh…
Moses became a demi-god, he was unchallengeable, uncontestable, even the magician of Egypt couldn’t match him, they even exclaimed “this is the finger of God” Nobody not even Pharaoh’s body guard could arrest him. God by his Word made Moses a god to pharaoh because you can’t hear from heaven and not be an authority on the earth.
Ezekiel
In Ezekiel 37, the Word painted a graphical picture of the power behind the every Word from mouth of the Lord. This passage is a popular one in the Christendom, but I desire to point certain truth from it.
In verse 3 the Lord asked Ezekiel “Son of man, can these bones live?” Then in verse 7, the Word Ezekiel “So I prophesied as I was commanded” When Ezekiel prophesied, the Word said “and as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone.”
So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. (v10)
Ezekiel was just standing and watching the effect of the sent Word, he didn’t do anything. Whenever you operate as commanded, you become a commander, because God will always confirm His Word. Anytime we comply the demand of God’s Word will trigger the workings of God in our situation, In King Solomon said in 1 king 8:15
And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, which spake with his mouth unto David my father, and hath with his hand fulfilled it,
There also another instance in the ministry of Ezekiel in Ezek 2:1-2
And he said unto me, Son of man, stand upon thy feet, and I will speak unto thee. And the spirit entered into me when he spake unto me, and set me upon my feet, that I heard him that spake unto me. (Eze 2:1-2)
At the instance of the Word, we are empowered by the Spirit of God for conquest and dominion (John 1:12)
Certain People in Psalm
In Psalm 107:17-20, the word painted a picture of a people - “fools” that were afflicted because of their iniquities
Fools because of their transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted. Their soul abhorreth all manner of meat; and they draw near unto the gates of death. (Psa 107:17-18)
Then they cried out to the Lord (v19)
Then they cry unto the LORD in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses.
But how did the Lord saved them from their trouble? Verse 20 of the same chapter said
He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions.
You must understand that God operate by His Word, every true revolution begins with genuine revelation from the Lord.
The power of any king lies in his word, the scriptures said “wherever the word of a king is, there is power” therefore wherever the Word of the King of the Kings is, there is absolute power.
A word from the Lord is enough to silence the opposition in your life, position yourself to encounter a word from the Lord.
Jonah
We all know the story of Jonah – how he departed from the Lord’s presence to Tarishi but when he came back to his sense he obeyed God and the word said in chapter 3 of Jonah verse 2
Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee. (Jon 3:2)
Jonah obeyed God and went into the city to preach the Word given to Him for the people – a very simple, short and raw message “yet forty days and Ninevah shall be overthrown”
The message was direct and raw, but here was the result
And he caused it to be proclaimed and published through Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles, saying, Let neither man nor beast, herd nor flock, taste any thing: let them not feed, nor drink water: But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily unto God: yea, let them turn every one from his evil way, and from the violence that is in their hands. (Jon 3:7-8)
Note both man and beast fasted – sought the face of the Lord and this later resulted to God changing His mind concerning Nineveh.
And God saw their works, that they turned from their evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had said that he would do unto them; and he did it not. (Jon 3:10)
The Power Behind the Word of God
Sometime ago, the Lord made me to understand that –what makes the Word powerful is the person/author of that Word. He said “behind every of My Word is Me- the Almighty”
In my life, I have come to understand that the weight and power behind any words of man is determine by the man behind the word
Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it. (1Th 5:24)
Because God is behind every word He speak or command, there is also expression of might and power behind the Word because He is the Almighty and He watches His Word to perform it.
Commander and Authority
Spiritual authority is exercised principally through our words (Ps17:44). One of my respected mentor said that “a close mouth is a closed destiny”. Throughout the ministry of Jesus – He exercised His dominion via His Word
Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said unto them, Whom seek ye? (Joh 18:4)
He answered in verse 5 “I am He”
Note what happened in verse 6 of the same chapter
As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.(Joh 18:6)
But because, He know the will of the Father and was obedient to it, He submitted to them (verse 8).
Through the Gospel, virtually all the miracle, Jesus perform, His Word was involved
The centurion said to Jesus
The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. (Mat 8:8)
This centurion understood the principle of command and authority (Math 8:9) and knew that Jesus had authority over all things – sickness and disease – all He need to do was to speak a word and the situation will answer.
Some years ago, I was stepping out from a car, when the Spirit of the Lord spoke to me “people trust on unreliable word of men with ease but cannot fully rest on the unfailing Word of God”
This has so blessed my spiritual life especially my faith walk. I always tell people – trust fully in God, then let Him fail first before you start complaining – Give Him a chance, at least a benefit of a doubt. But here is the conclusion of the matter; God is not big to fail.
They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed. (Psa 34:5)
The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants: and none of them that trust in him shall be desolate (Psa 34:22)
Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? (Jer 32:27)
Peter’s Story
Peter in his defense when he was attacked by the jew for his ministration to the Gentile (house of Cornelius), said, in verse 14 of Act 11
Who shall tell thee words, whereby thou and all thy house shall be saved. (Act 11:14)
Peter In the House of Cornelius
When Peter visited the house of Cornelius and preached, the scriptures recorded an interesting event
While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. (Act 10:44)
Friend, every word of God carries God’s power (Luk 5:17, Rom 1:17)
New Testament Supermen
Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods? If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken; (Joh 10:34-35)
When the Word of God comes to you in any area of your life, your dominion is established. The situation begins to answer to you. The Lord said Moses
And thou shalt take this rod in thine hand, wherewith thou shalt do signs. (Exo 4:17)
The word of God makes a god out of you, if you go through the scripture, anybody that hear from God, the world must hear such a person.
Friend, all you need is a word from the Lord from His Word treasure house (the bible) and your case will be over.
