In the Kingdom, the bedrock of every revolution is genuine revelation, men and women in the Kingdom who commanded attention on earth always hear from God. This is because when you hear from heaven, your situation must hear because the where the Word of God is, there is power.
In Ezekiel 37, Ezekiel said “I prophesied as commanded” then things began to happen. The totality and life as Christian is determine by faith, the word said “it is you according to your faith” but as powerful as faith, it is at the mercy of understanding of God’s Word (Revelation)
What then is Revelation?
In Isa 2:1, the Word said “The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.”
The Word Isaiah the son of Amos SAW – that is revelation, it is seeing what God is saying from the pages of scriptures.
Psa 119:18 Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law.
And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables: (Mar 4:11)
It is catching the mystery behind the story and parable of the Word. The word of God is full of stories and parables and revelation is catching the story behind the story.
In 2 Tim 3:16 and according to Rev 1:11, 2:17, behind every written word of God is the voice of the Spirit. Revelation means catching the voice of the Spirit in the pages of scriptures.
In Eph 1:17 -18
That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him: THE EYES OF YOUR UNDERSTANDING BEING ENLIGHTENED; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, (Eph 1:17-18)
It is having your eye of understanding enlightened by the Spirit of God – the Spirit of truth
Revelation and Your Manifestation
Your manifestation as a child of God is determined by the level of your spiritual understanding. How much you can see determine your possession and manifestation. See what the Lord says
Gen 13:14-15
(14) And the LORD said unto Abram, after that Lot was separated from him, Lift up now thine eyes, and look from the place where thou art northward, and southward, and eastward, and westward:
(15) For all the land which thou seest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed for ever.
Jer 1:11-12
(11) Moreover the word of the LORD came unto me, saying, Jeremiah, what seest thou? And I said, I see a rod of an almond tree.
(12) Then said the LORD unto me, Thou hast well seen: for I will hasten my word to perform it.
Your insight determine your manifestation, your greatest ability is the capacity to see into God’s Word. Jesus said that until you see, you wouldn’t believe. So this means that insight is what provoke faith (Rom 10:17)
In Psa 119:144, the Word said “The righteousness of thy testimonies is everlasting: give me understanding, and I shall live.”
And In Hab 2:4, Rom 1:17, that the just shall live by faith
From the two scriptures, it means that when understanding comes, faith comes. Just as Kenneth E. Hagin of Blessed Memory puts it “Faith begins where the will of God is known”
Faith comes by hearing and hearing of the Word, it is the second hearing that connotes understanding.
When understanding (spiritual insight) comes, faith steps in because only fools doubt what he/she sees. When God shows you, then your faith in God comes alive and by faith God steps in to confirm His Word you believed.
Channels of Revelation
Before we dive into the channels of accessing revelation, let look at your birthright to revelation by redemption
Jesus said in Mark 4:11-12
Mar 4:11-12
(11) And he said unto them, Unto you it is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God: but unto them that are without, all these things are done in parables:
(12) That seeing they may see, and not perceive; and hearing they may hear, and not understand; lest at any time they should be converted, and their sins should be forgiven them.
So it is your birthright to access the mystery of the Kingdom. Also in the Lord prayer, Jesus said “Pray after this manner…gives us this day our daily bread”
Many people think that God is talking about physical food, yes He is but He is also talking about food of the spirit (Deu 8:3, Math 4:4)
God’s Word is food for the spirit (1 pet 2:2) and God is first interested in spiritual state before your physical and material needs
In 1 Tim 5:8, the Word said that any man that cannot provide for his family is worst than infidel and you know that God is too faithful and righteous to fail in His duty toward you. God is only 100% committed to supplying your DAILY bread (first spiritual and physical) because He is not just your God but your loving Father.
Since revelation is my birthright by redemption, how do you access it?
1. Engage your spirit man
The scriptures say that the spirit of a man is the candle of the Lord, this means that God speaks principally through our spiritman. The reason is simple: like beget like, in John 4:24, the word said that God is a spirit and those who worship Him, will worship Him in truth and spirit.
This means those that must relate with Him must do it in spirit. God is a spirit and He talk to us through our spirit, just like man can relate with man, goat can relate with goat, in the same vein God relates with our spirit not our soul or body.
Therefore to hear God’s voice, you and I must position our spirit to capture it when He speak to us directly or from the pages of scriptures
I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day, and heard behind me a great voice, as of a trumpet,(Rev 1:10)
Therefore you must actively and consciously engage your spirit by engaging in what I call spirit search.
Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it? (Luk 15:8)
Note: in order to find something, you must search for it, in Luk 15:8 the woman lighted a candle and seek diligently till she found it and remember that the candle of the Lord is your spirit.
So in order to find the treasures embedded in the word of God you must actively engage your spirit man. What does engaging your spirit means? It means that your spirit must be alive to God – this call for born again experience.
In 1 Cor 2:14-15, the word made us to understand that a natural man cannot access the things of the spirit.
This means you must accept Jesus as your Lord and savior; you must be a child of God in order for your spirit to be alive in accessing heaven.
2. Meditation
This is one of the most valuable acts in the body of Christ that many have overlooked. Most people are too eager to prayer when problem rise, without taken time to meditate on what is actually happening.
Meditation grants you access to insight that boost your faith which in turn enhance the effect of your prayer in such situation. Think of it, the prodigal sons reasoned his way out of his shame, by reasoning –the bible said He came to himself.
Meditation simply mean pondering over something, it means thinking through something. Mediating on the Word of God is one of the most guaranteed mean of accessing the treasure/gems embedded in the word.
Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. I have more understanding than all my teachers: for thy testimonies are my meditation. (Psa 119:98-99)
Also in Act 10:19, it was when Peter was pondering and reasoning on what the vision could be that the Spirit spoke to Him.
While Peter thought on the vision, the Spirit said unto him, Behold, three men seek thee. (Act 10:19)
Faith is the key to triumphant Christian living (1 John 5:4) but one of the greatest assets is the voice of the Spirit. The major reason why many believers doubt or cannot stand on the discoveries they found from the Word is because the word is not strong in them.
Kenneth E. Hagin of Blessed Memory once said whenever he locates a promise that apply to a specific challenge in his life, he don’t rush out to exercise faith on that promise. Instead he stay with that Word, meditating on that promise – by so doing he built up his insight which in turn built up his faith in that God’s promise.
It is not enough to read or hear the word; you must take it further by mediating on the Word you have received. It is the course of pondering – thinking and rethinking on the Word that the Spirit of God begins to breathe upon your understanding.
3. Prayer & Supplication
This is the most common way of accessing revelation. The Word said in Math 11:13 “Give us day by day our daily bread” and in the beginning of this chapter- I showed from scriptures that revelation is the food of the Spirit (Deu 8:3b)
According to Luk 11:3, if God is your father then you are entitled to your daily bread – insight from His Word.
Open thou mine eyes, that I may behold wondrous things out of thy law. (Psa 119:18)
So we essentially pray our way into revelation of God’s Word. In Eph 1:17-18, Paul was praying for the Church of Ephesus that the eye of their understanding be enlightened
In Daniel 2, the king request for interpretation of his dream & content of his dream (Dan 2:6) that was madness, if he told his dream and requested for interpretation that will be acceptable, but instead he asked for his dream as if they slept on the same bed with him.
But Daniel requested more time and prayed about it.
Then Daniel went to his house, and made the thing known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions: That they would desire mercies of the God of heaven concerning this secret; that Daniel and his fellows should not perish with the rest of the wise men of Babylon. Then was the secret revealed unto Daniel in a night vision. Then Daniel blessed the God of heaven. (Dan 2:17-19)
Through prayer, Daniel accessed the insight He was looking for. Hear what the Lord said in Jer 33:3
Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.
Friend, revelation is your right and entitlement – your daily bread, lay hold of it in prayer.
4. Word Study
Prayer doesn’t just instantly result to revelation, No, you have to take time to study and meditate. Yes you have prayed but you need to study the Word in order to access the Word.
Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2Ti 2:15)
So study to secure God’s approval and God’s approval culminate to signs and wonder (Act 2:22). If you want to access God’s voice study His Word – for they speak of Him.
5. Anointed Books & Materials
This is one of the facilitators of revelation. Books written by anointed men of God always carry the revelation given to them by God. Books are simply their ministry in print. In the last chapter, we talked about the ministry of God’s sent preachers that they help us see into the truth – they are extension of Holy Spirit in teaching men.
One of the vital mean that God established to communicate the light given to the sent men are through books (Rev 1:12)
You access their ministries through their books and resource material. Since 2007, I have been investing in resource material and anointed books – I can tell you with all sincerity that my worth in God is a product of the impartation and revelation from those books.
Thank God for Word study but thank God much more for anointed books – it enables you see farther into God’s Word.
It is important as you read anointed book – strive not for understanding alone – strive for an encounter, an impartation.
6. Holy Spirit
All other channels of revelation depend on the Person of the Holy Spirit – what a sweet Person. He is the Custodian of Kingdom Mysteries (1 Cor 2:9-10) Revelation is impossible without the person of the Holy Spirit, He is the One that is committed with ministry of truth.
Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. (Joh 16:13)
His name is the Spirit of truth – so when He show up, revelation start flowing. He is your One teacher – the deep things of God is revealed only through Him.
In John 14:16 When Jesus first introduced Him, Jesus revealed the first ministry of the Holy Ghost – ministry of truth.
Hear this, stop celebrating how much you have prayed about revelation, how much hours you invested in books or in Word study. What matters is HOW MUCH HE SHOWS YOU.
So in your next bible study – humbly call for His Help – “Holy Spirit help me, breathe upon my understanding, reveal to me the mysteries of God’s Word as I study.”
I guarantee you, He will speak to you – I have proven this truth in my life – over and over again. Anytime I am praying or studying the Word and I sense I am not connecting, I will call for His Help – Immediate change will come.
When I was writing this book, I didn’t know what to write per se but I know from my personal walk with God - Whenever He instruct, just obey and the rest will flow because I have a ministry in that line of scriptural faith – I knew He will inspire on what to write and He did just that.
If you go through scriptures, Holy Spirit is always described with the pronoun “He” and not “it” So that show He is a person and He speak. Engage Him today and soar in the depth of the Word of God.
7. Praise & Worship
One of the easiest ways to trigger the flow of revelation is by praise and worship – this is because praise and worship releases and stir up the anointing of God upon our lives.
According to Ps 16:11, God inhabit the praise of His people – so when you praise Him from your heart. He steps in and When He does – light flows because according to 1John 1:5, God is light
This truth was graphically illustrated in 2King 3:15-16
But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the LORD came upon him. And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches. (2Ki 3:15-16)
So immediately, praise went up, anointing was released and revelation started flowing – “Thus saith the Lord”
Sometime ago, I went to minister to a small group of people, the meeting was scheduled at evening time, so I spent the whole day studying and praising God and going about my business.
Later that night – I arrived early in the meeting and decided to pray, immediately I started praising God, the power of God came so mightily upon me that by the end of the program, I couldn’t walk plus there an outburst of healing and deliverance.
So anytime you feel like you are not connecting, switch to the frequency of praise and you will be empowered to walk in your high places (Hab 3:17-19)
8. The Communion
It is very unfortunate many people in the body of Christ don’t understand the power and the mystery embedded in the communion. Although I will go much into this area in this book (but may address it in another publication, if the Lord permit me)
I will just show you the power of the communion in accessing the revelation of God’s Word. We all know the story of the two disciples travelling to the village called Emmanus in Luk 24 starting from verse 13.
These two disciples were with Jesus but they didn’t know it was Jesus until He broke the bread. The bible said that their eyes were opened.
And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed it, and brake, and gave to them. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of their sight. (Luk 24:30-31)
Remember: Jesus is the Word of God, so communion among other things enhances our access into the world of revelation
Over to You
Now you know by the Word of God, what it takes to access revelation, but that leave a responsibility on you to engage the truth. It is not enough to know it, you have to do it, in order to enjoy the benefit of the truth you have received.
It is the word received and acted upon that produces result (Heb 4:2) Now you have received the truth – act on it by faith in order to access the blessing.
