In this issue, I will be addressing the basis of a biblical faith, in our world today the word “faith” has become a commonplace and many claim to have faith without actually operating the principles of biblical faith.
It is important to note that they are two types of faith: the human faith and the biblical or supernatural faith. My focus is on biblical faith – the God kind of faith because when the Lord called me, He said “I have called you to preach faith, preach faith to the people”
What is Faith? (Biblical / God-kind of faith)
From Mark 9:23 and Mark 10:27, I define faith as a spiritual platform that connect humanity to divinity for divine intervention thereby making the impossible possible.
Until you see the invisible through the eyes of faith, you never do the impossible Heb 11:27, Also in Rom 10:6-8: the Word made us to understand that Christ can be made real on the earth – in our family, in our daily walk through the instrumentality of faith. Faith guarantees a life of supernatural (Mk 9:23), a heaven on earth lifestyle (Rom 10:6-8), much more, a life of triumph.
Importance of faith
· Salvation is by faith: Eph 2:8...For by grace are ye saved through faith
· Healing is by faith (Math 9:20-22)
· Victory is by faith 1 john 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. (1Jn 5:4)
· Living as a whole is by faith: In Act 6:7. Christianity is defined as the faith. In Hab 2:4, Rom 1:17, Heb 10:39 tell us that ....the just shall live by his faith. Everything about you as a Christian is defined by faith because it is according to your faith be it unto you.
· Empowerment is by faith: The woman with issue of blood touched the hem of Jesus’ garment and by faith drew virtue that sorted her case out Mk 5:23-34. Today by the operation of faith, God's power will sorted your case out in the Name of Jesus.
· Protection and Preservation of Blessing of God is by Faith: In Eph 6:16...above taking the shield of faith wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery dart of the wicked [devil]. The above scripture show that faith is a weapon of warfare, a shield used to quench all the arrow of the devil.
The Core Foundation of Biblical faith
In my small walk with God, I have come across many Christians who claim to be operating faith, but they are operating in ignorance. The basis of biblical faith is the word of God, faith without basis in the word of God is not God‘s kind of faith and cannot secure divine intervention in the affairs of men.
And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord. (Luke 1:45)
So you believed those things which the Lord has spoken to you either through scriptures or spoken Word. In Rom 4:17-18, Abraham believed God and became the father of many nations according to that which the Lord has spoken
Roman 4:20 showed us the basis of Abraham’s faith – the promise of God. He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? (Jas 2:21-22)
His faith was justified or shown or proved by his action when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar - which was the Lord’s Instruction to him in Gen 22:1-2
So his faith was not a blind faith or wishful thinking but a faith based on the Lord’s Instruction - the Word of the Lord.
Throughout the ministry of Jesus on the earth, everyone that Jesus commends for their faith - acting on the instruction they received from Jesus the Living Word.
Today, by the grace of God, Jesus Christ, the living Word is revealed to us by the help of the Holy Spirit and His Instrumentalities- the ministry gifts.
In my personal walk with Jesus, I made a decision that when it comes to my spiritual life, I will not give in or believe anything that is not line with the Word of God. In other words I made the Word of God the highest authority in my life and that has kept me and my ministry in balance.
Your Christian life is faith defined and this faith only draw its strength from the Word of God (Rom 10: 17), so to base your faith on teaching or doctrine that contradict the word of God is heading to a spiritual life of bankruptcy, shame and reproach.
The Spirit of the Lord is asking, what is the basis of your faith, is it the Word of God, man’s doctrine, earthly positions and connections?
Refuse to accept any doctrine that is not line with Word of God, let me encourage that true foundation that can’t fail is the Word of God – it lives and abide forever.
Hear this, the end time giants of the Church will be men of faith- the Lord said to me “men that will take by My Word..” This is confirmed in Isaiah 2:1-2 and Micah 4. Your reign and my reign are determined by the operation of the Word of God (for the law shall go forth of Zion and the Word of the Lord from Jerusalem). God desire to exalt the church but that will be determine by working of the Word of God in your life (Deu 28)
For every revelation or vision you received, strive to judge it with the word of God – in line with scriptures comparing scripture with scripture.
The world was framed by the word of God; therefore everything is under the control of the Word of God (Heb 11:3, John 1:3). Please note there is no doctrine that occupies the same position with the Word of God. It is absolute, it is doesn’t need addition (Deu 5:32, Deu 28).
The Word of any man can’t stand the Word of his Maker- God. Who is he that saidth, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not? (Lam 3:37) Trusting in anything except in the Lord – His Word bring curse and failure (Jer 17:5-8). I encourage today to embrace the Word from His mouth that you may find peace.
I urge you today to accept the Word of God has greatest authority in your spiritual adventure.
